Who's to strike top 10?

Ever thought of the intricacies belying the otherwise simple process of ‘searching’? You may have noticed that the same search in different search engines almost never turn out results with an identical page rank. Search Engines seem to have developed a basic functionality and character of their own.

While Google is more of an information engine, you would find MSN search’s churning out product-based results; otherwise obscure in other searches. Each search engine is settling into a definitive niche in the World Wide Web.

Whether you are a web surfer or a Website Design Company, the key phrases you choose to use should be justified with relation to the search engine you wish to capitalize on.

The unknown and mysterious combination of algorithm used by search engines has left many a good site out of the page ranking game while others seem to be making a good head-start.

The basic psychology to a higher page rank is to have a large number of external links leading to your site while increasing the number of ‘intra-links’ in your site. Size matters too. The greater the number of pages in your website, the higher you score.

Of course, there’s a tiny glitch to that. A web page exists to a search engine only if it has at least one link that ‘introduces’ it to the web family. Though the right formula may sound easy to attain, it’s of little wonder that most companies are sweating it out over their websites.

Needless to say, Website Design Company’s and SEO services face the real challenge of striking top 10.
